3rd Mobility to Greece

BERTÍ SCHOOL TRAVELS TO GREECE IN THE THIRD MOBILITY OF THE ERASMUS + CHAMPIONS PROJECT

BERTÍ SCHOOL HAS GONE TO LEVADÍA (GREECE) IN THE THIRD MOBILITY OF STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM THE DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH WHOM IT SHARES THE PROJECT “BECOME EUROPEAN MATHS CHAMPIONS”.

Escola Bertí continues with its ERASMUS+ project BECOME EUROPEAN MATH CHAMPIONS and during the week of 6 to 11 November took place the third mobility in Levadia (Greece). On this occasion, students and teachers have visited the school4th Primary School of Levadia together with the other countries that are part of the project: Croatia, Portugal, Italy and Romania. They have combined cultural and mathematical activities, always using English as the language of instruction.

On Monday, there was a welcome ceremony in which the students from Greece danced and sang traditional songs. This was followed by ice-breaker games to break the ice between the participating children and then the representatives of each country explained various activities of the project to have a compilation of everything that has been done so far. In the afternoon, we had a guided tour of the city of Levadia and took advantage of the ruins of the castle to carry out a maths activity that consisted of solving different challenges about fractions to obtain letters and discover how the residents of Levadia managed to survive when they were locked up in the castle during the war.

On Tuesday, we visited the city of Athens. First of all, we had a guided tour, in English, of the New Acropolis Museum and the archaeological site while looking at the Parthenon, the Temple of Erectheion and the Temple of Athena Nike. We were very impressed! Also, before leaving Athens and returning to Levadia, we had the opportunity to watch the changing of the guard at the Parliament of Athens.

On Wednesday, we did different mathematical activities in the school4th Primary School of Levadia, relating mathematics with different areas: Music, Physical Education and Philosophy. Finally, to close the day of mathematical activities, the participating students had to build a 3D puzzle of the Parthenon, which we took with us as a souvenir and is currently in our Erasmus + corner of the school.

On Thursday, the last day of the mobility, we dedicated a cultural outing to Delphi, formerly known as the place of the Delphic oracle. First, we went on a guided tour, in English, to the Delphi Museum, where we could see offerings made to the god Apollo. Then, we saw the ruins of the Temple dedicated to Apollo, as well as the Treasury of Athens and the theatre, among others.

The Erasmus+ mobility has been a very enriching experience on a cultural and historical level, but above all on a mathematical level, since we had the opportunity to carry out various activities to see how mathematics works in this school in Levadia.

Now we are looking forward to the next mobility, which will be this December in Italy, specifically in Caserta, to be able to continue filling our backpack with different ways of teaching and learning mathematics, as well as cultural knowledge.

WE’RE CHAMPIONS!
